🇳🇱 In the framework of our "Participate & Promote Democracy" EU Youth Participation Project, the youth participants explored Electoral Results and Youth Political Behavior in Armenia.
What role did youth play in the latest elections and what influenced their decision to participate or stay away? In this interview, the P.P.D. projec’s Armenian Team speaks with Anton Ivchenko, Coordinator of the Democratic Institutions Monitoring and Reporting Department at the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor (HCAV), about youth participation in the electoral process, the factors shaping their engagement and the barriers young voters face.
Aren Nahapetyan - influencer and blogger - discusses the role of youth in elections, their political engagement and the importance of their voices in shaping the future of society. The interview also explores how social media and influencers can support youth in becoming better informed, more engaged and active citizens and contribute to meaningful democratic participation.
Vahagn Hovakimyan, Chair of Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission, discusses youth participation in the 2026 parliamentary elections, the growing role of social media in campaigns and the factors shaping voter engagement. The interview also addresses how local electoral commissions can strengthen transparent, inclusive and democratic elections.
