🇳🇱 Participants of the Participate & Promote Democracy project engaged in in a structured dialogue with policymaker Bente Becker on the topic of migration.

The exchange provided valuable insight into current migration policy, integration processes and the broader societal and political challenges connected to these themes. It created an opportunity for direct interaction between young participants and the policymaker, strengthening understanding of how decisions are shaped and discussed in a democratic system.
The conversation explored key aspects of migration and integration in Europe and the Netherlands, including challenges faced by newcomers, access to the labour market, civic participation of minority and non-citizen residents, and the role of government in ensuring fair and effective integration policies. It also addressed the balance between public concerns, political decision making and the need to maintain inclusion and social cohesion within diverse societies.
Overall, the meeting contributed to a deeper understanding of how migration policies are developed and how they impact individuals and communities in practice.
