🇳🇱 In the framework of our "Participate & Promote Democracy" EU Youth Participation Project, the youth participants explored what is the Role of Education in Building a Democratic Society.
Raising their voice in democracy, Armenian participants interviewed different policymakers.
Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan met our project participants and spoke about how education can cultivate democratic thinking and active citizenship. The conversation focused on fostering genuine self-governance in schools and universities, depoliticizing education, strengthening student voices, and how reforms in education can rebuild public trust in state institutions.

Armine Kheranyan, Member of the National Assembly of Armenia, engages with Democracy Project participants to discuss the vital role of education (particularly universities) in sustaining democracy. The discussion highlighted how higher education fosters critical thinking, civic responsibility and democratic values essential for an informed and active society.

Serob Khachatryan, education expert and civic activist, engaged with Democracy Project participants to discuss how education and moral values shaped a healthy democracy. The discussion highlighted critical thinking, honesty, justice and active citizenship, while addressing challenges such as misinformation, civic disengagement, low educational levels and inequality in the pursuit of long-term democratic development.
