🇪🇺 The project participants had the opportunity to meet with policymaker Suleyman Aslami for an inspiring discussion on freedom of speech, its limits and its growing importance in today's digital world.
This meeting gave the young people a unique chance to engage directly with a policymaker and gain first-hand insight into how freedom of expression is approached in the Netherlands and the role policymakers play in protecting this fundamental right.
💬 The conversation covered both the opportunities and challenges of free speech on social media, the responsibility of decision-makers to safeguard democratic values, while preventing misuse and the impact of online expression on younger generations. Through practical examples and thoughtful answers Suleyman Aslami demonstrated a strong commitment to creating a safer and more inclusive digital environment, while highlighting areas where further progress is needed.
This interactive exchange encouraged participants to reflect critically on the balance between freedom and responsibility online. It strengthened their understanding of democratic values and inspired them to become more conscious digital citizens, who actively contribute to respectful dialogue and a healthier online public space.
